Center for the Study of Religious Violence Launches

Welcome to the website of the Center for the Study of Religious Violence!

The newly created Center for the Study of Religious Violence is launching a website to promote scholarly investigation of intersections of religion and violence in comparative historical contexts.

Sean Farrell and Brian Sandberg, Associate Professors of History at Northern Illinois University, will jointly direct the Center for the Study of Religious Violence (CSRV). The center is an independent research center that has no official affiliation with the Department of History or Northern Illinois University.

CSRV seeks to encourage the academic study of issues of religious politics, sectarian violence, and religious warfare around the world. This website will provide scholars, researchers, and interested readers with information and resources on religious violence in diverse historical periods and geographical areas.

The CSRV will also sponsor lectures, workshops, seminars, and conferences on themes relating to the study of religious violence at Northern Illinois University and in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Follow the CSRV web posts for information on upcoming events and new resources on religious violence studies.
